Who Controls the Global Internet?

Who Controls the Global Internet?

The Internet is arguably the most significant global infrastructure today, connecting more than half the world's population and profoundly shaping everything from high politics to everyday lives. Yet where do power and control lie in this global communications network? Is it with leading states or is the global Internet ruled by big multinationals such as Google and Microsoft? Or do technical computer experts run a show that neither companies nor governments understand? Or is Internet governance a model of new global democracy, where everyone including individual users can have their say?
