Calle Håkansson är associerad forskare vid UI:s Europaprogram och filosofie doktor i Global Politik (PhD). Hans forskning fokuserar framförallt på EU:s roll inom försvar och säkerhet, med särskild inriktning på Europeiska Kommissionens växande inflytande inom detta område.
Under sin tid på UI har Calle arbetat med flera olika projekt rörande europeisk, nordisk och svenskt utrikes-, försvars- och säkerhetspolitik. Hans forskning har publicerats av bland annat Journal of European Integration, European Security, Defence Studies, European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) samt av Svenska institutet för europapolitiska studier (Sieps).
Han har även skrivit om och kommenterat europeisk politik i svenska och internationella nyhetsmedier, bland annat för SVT, Politico, Sveriges Radio, Danmarks Radio, NRC Handelsblad, Euronews, Svenska Dagbladet och Dagens Industri.
