Calle Håkansson är associerad medarbetare vid UI:s Europaprogram och doktorand i Global Politik vid Malmö Universitet. Hans forskning fokuserar på EU som en aktör inom försvar och säkerhet, med en särskild inriktning på Europeiska Kommissionens växande roll inom området.
Under sin tid på UI har Calle arbetat med flera olika projekt rörande europeisk, nordisk och svenskt utrikes- och säkerhetspolitik, publicerat av bland annat European Security, European Council on Foreign Relations, Svenska institutet för europapolitiska studier (SIEPS).
Han har även skrivit om och kommenterat europeisk politik i svenska och internationella nyhetsmedier, som SVT, Politico, Sveriges Radio, Danmarks Radio, NRC Handelsblad, Euronews, Svenska Dagbladet och Dagens Industri.
Calle har sedan tidigare en magisterexamen i statsvetenskap med inriktning på säkerhetspolitik från Försvarshögskolan i Stockholm samt en kandidatexamen i statskunskap från Uppsala universitet. Calle är doktorand vid institutionen för globala politiska studier sedan 2019.
