Marching Against Child Labour: Nobel Peace Prize Laureate 2014

The Swedish Parliament, in cooperation with the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI), arranged a seminar with the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, and to a discussion on child labour and bonded labour.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzay with the Nobel Peace Prize 2014 for "their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education”.

Welcome and opening remarks by Urban Ahlin, Speaker of the Swedish Parliament.

Keynote speaker:

Kailash Satyarthi, is an internationally acclaimed child rights’ activist, and a pioneer in the fight against child exploitation and illiteracy. His work has rescued over 80,000 children from bondage, trafficking and exploitative labour, and has been incremental in the development of important international conventions on children’s rights and education. 

Panelists:

Åsa Regnér, Minister for Children, the Elderly and Gender Equality.
Renée Andersson, Ethics and Environment Manager at Indiska, and Honorary Doctor at Lund University.
Elisabeth Dahlin, Secretary General Swedish Save the Children, former Swedish diplomat and Ambassador.
