Abenomics and Japan’s Past, Present and Future

Stockholm Seminar on Japan What is really happening with the Japanese economy? Is there any light in the tunnel after the two lost decades? These are important questions for other developed economies that have been "Japanised”, and are now facing the same problem with deflation, or very low inflation, and negative, zero or almost no interest rates

Is Abenomics, an expansive financial and fiscal policy, improving the situation? Takata will give us an insider’s view on what is happening with the Japanese economy.

Speaker:

Hajime Takata is the Managing Executive Officer and Chief Economist of Mizuho Research Institute, part of the Mizuho Financial Group, one of Japan’s largest. 2000-11 he was the chief strategist of Mizuho Securities. The title of his latest book (published in Japanese) is "The Collapse of the Japanese Government Bond Market”.
