Inaugural SIPRI Lecture: Is the world on the road to peace or war? by HE Dr Hans Blix
Mats Karlsson, Director of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs commented during the Inaugural SIPRI Lecture by HE Dr Hans Blix.
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute proudly hosted the inaugural ‘SIPRI Lecture’ on the theme 'Is the world on the road to peace or war?', in the presence of His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf and Her Majesty Queen Silvia.
The Lecture honoured HE Dr Hans Blix and his lifelong career of distinguished public service dedicated to peace, disarmament, non-proliferation and conflict resolution. Ambassador Jan Eliasson, Chair of SIPRI Governing Board, introduced Dr Blix. The lecture was followed by a distinguished panel discussion featuring Dr Katarina Engberg, Director of the Swedish Government Offices, Mats Karlsson, Director of the Swedish Institute for International Affairs and was moderated by Dan Smith, SIPRI Director.
The lecture, held at Musikaliska in central Stockholm, was accompanied with piano performances by Staffan Scheja.
