The Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI) in collaboration with Transparency International Sweden arranged a seminar to explore the threat that corruption poses and to identify possible policy responses.

Kerry Brown is Professor of Chinese Studies and Director of the Lau China Institute at King's College, London. Prior to this he was the Professor of Chinese Politics and Director of the China Studies Centre at the University of Sydney.

Christer Ljungwall is an Associate Professor at the Asia Research Centre at the Copenhagen Business School and Peking University HSBC Business School.

What is the impact of corruption in Asia on international security?

Katherine Dixon is the Director of Transparency International Defence and Security. She is a former British diplomat. Her last role in government was as Private Secretary to the British Foreign Secretary. Katherine has also worked on arms control issues and nuclear proliferation. Prior to that, she spent several years posted in China, and worked as a political analyst in the Ministry of Defence.

The seminar was moderated by Björn Jerdén, Head of UI’s Asia Programme.

This seminar was part of the series ‘Corruption and the World Order’ exploring and deepening the understanding of the various implications of corruption for security and the world order, in cooperation with Transparency International Sweden (TI).
