Ulv Hanssen is an Research Fellow and from October 2017 associated with UI's Asia programme as Associate Research Fellow.
He focuses mainly on questions about Japan-North Korea's relationship and Japan's security policy identity. Ulv has a PhD degree in Japanese studies from the Freie Universität Berlin. He has studied three years in Japan and worked for one year at the Norwegian Embassy in Tokyo before a scholarship holder within UI's Scholarship Programme in the spring of 2012. He joined UI as a Associate Fellow in the fall of 2012.
