From April 2023, Linus Hagström is connected to the project "ReConnect China" within NKK.

Linus Hagström worked at UI between 2003 - 2021. He directed the East Asia Programme between 2008 and 2015. His research is focused on international relations in Northeast Asia, in particular Japanese foreign and security policy, Japan-China relations, and the North Korean nuclear issue. Linus Hagström is interested in matters related to power, identity, interpretation and narrative.

Linus Hagström received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Stockholm University in 2003, and is Professor of Political Science at the Swedish Defence University since 2015. He is also a research associate at the European Institute of Japanese Studies and the East Asia Peace Programme, and an editorial board member of Pacific Affairs. He was a visiting professor at Kyoto University in 2012. 

Linus Hagström is the author of Japan's China Policy: A Relational Power Analysis (Routledge 2005) and has published in 
European Journal of International Relations, Review of International Studies, Australian Journal of International Affairs, The Pacific Review, Pacific Affairs, Asian Security, Asian Survey, Journal of East Asian Studies, Chinese Journal of International Politics andEuropean Journal of East Asian Studies.
