Dr. Börje Ljunggren is Senior Associate Fellow within UI's Asia Programme. Dr. Ljunggren is the former Swedish ambassador to China (2002-06) and Vietnam (1994-97). He holds a Ph. D. in Political Science and is an Associate of the Harvard University Asia Center.
Currently, ambassador Ljunggren is responsible for the coordination of the Stockholm China Forum (GMF) on behalf of the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Ljunggren is a member of the board of Lund University, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute and the Stockholm China Economic Research Institute of the Stockholm School of Economics.
His publications include "The Challenge of Reform in Indochina" (HIID/Harvard University Press, 1993), published in Vietnamese in 1994. "Kina: vår tids drama" (China: the Drama of Our Time), second edition, October 2009 and "Den kinesiska drömmen: utmaningar för Kina och världen" (The Chinese Dream: Challenges for China and the World) was published in March, 2015.
