Erik Isaksson

Associate Fellow

Erik Isaksson is an Associate Fellow at UI's Asia Program, a PhD Candidate at the Graduate School of East Asian Studies/Institute of Japanology, Freie Universität Berlin, and a visiting doctoral student at the European Institute of Japanese Studies, Stockholm School of Economics.

His research interests revolve around narratives, discourses, identity, and status in international politics, with a focus on Japan's international relations. He holds a Master's degree in Asian Languages and Cultures from Stockholm University (2016) and previously worked as a Japan and China analyst and in communications at the Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP) in Stockholm. Before that, he interned at the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo (2014) and UI's Asia Program (2015).
