Power Shift in East Asia

The research project Power Shift in East Asia is a collaboration between the Swedish Defence University and the Swedish Institute of International Affairs.

The project is led by Prof. Linus Hagström (principal investigator) and Dr. Mikael Weissmann (co-investigator). The project builds on extensive previous research on power and identity in East Asia, which includes the publication of two special issues on the East Asian Power Shift (2014) and Identity Politics in Japan's International Relations (2015) as well as a number of articles.

Core funder is the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation (Grant no 2013.0162). Funding has also been received from the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (Grant no F16-1086:1), Japan Foundation (Grant no 10108408) and the Swedish Defence University.
