ASEEES honorable mention to UI associate researcher Mark Bassin

Professor Mark Bassin, associate researcher with the UI Russia and Eurasia programme received The Reginald Zelnik Book Prize in History honorable mention by The Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) on November 11, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois.

Mark Bassin was honored for his book  The Gumilev Mystique: Biopolitics, Eurasianism, and the Construction of Community in Modern Russia (Cornell University Press).

The Reginald Zelnik Book Prize in History, established in 2009 and sponsored by the Institute of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, is awarded annually for an outstanding monograph published on Russia, Eastern Europe or Eurasia in the field of history in the previous calendar year.
