Nina Krickel is an associate fellow at the Swedish Institute for International Affairs (UI) and a PhD candidate in International Relations at Stockholm University since August 2017. Her research interests lie in the areas of international norms, sovereignty and democracy studies as well as in conventional security studies and East Asian international relations.
Nina Krickel holds a MA in Global Studies from Sophia University, Tokyo (2017), and a BSSc in International Relations & Peace Studies from the Department of Asia Pacific Studies at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Beppu, Japan (2015). She has previously worked briefly at the German Institute for Japanese Studies (DIJ) in Tokyo and provided, inter alia, editorial and research assistance for The North Korea Crisis and regional Responses (East-West Center Publishing, 2015). She is currently researching international norms pertaining to sovereignty and their practice in East Asia.
