Caroline Holmqvist

Research Fellow

Caroline Holmqvist is a research fellow at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (SIIA/UI). Her research concerns the possibilities for global politics, the relationship between politics and violence, global security politics, contemporary war and warfare.

Since 2014 she is working on a three-year research project on Time and Discourses of Global Politics together with Tom Lundborg. The project is funded by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet).

Caroline is since 2011 lecturer in War Studies at the Swedish Defence College. She was Research Fellow at the Centre for International Studies, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) 2011-2013 and has previously worked at the Swedish International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and the postdoc programme at SIIA/UI. Caroline holds a PhD in War Studies from King?s College London (2010) and an MSc and BSc with First Class Honours in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Caroline is author of Policing Wars: On Military Intervention in the Twenty-First Century (Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan, 2014), co-editor of War, Police and Assemblages of Intervention (London: Routledge, 2014) and The Character of War in the 21st Century (Abingdon, Oxon: Routledge, 2010) as well as author of articles in Millennium Journal of International Studies, Cambridge Review of International Affairs and Global Crime.
