Europe's Place in the World

2012-02-14

The Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI) invites you to a seminar on the European Union’s evolving role in the world. On February 1, the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), a pan-European think-tank, presented the second annual edition of ECFR’s ‘European Foreign Policy Scorecard’. The report examines the performance of the European Union on the global stage, across all twenty-seven governments and European institutions on six major issues. One finding of the report suggests that Europe is now a problem for the economic prospects of the rest of the world, rather than part of a solution to the world’s problems.

What is happening in Europe and how is this affecting global economic and security prospects? Which member states are emerging as the new foreign policy leaders in Europe? How might the EU’s institutions be helping or hurting the EU’s place in the world?
